Lareon Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Picked this up today from Ian Chapman at the Birmingham arms fare. It's an unwanted item from a museum donation from an ex collectors estate. Looks to be a brand new tsuka in mint condition. Wrapped and stitched completely in cloth. I haven't and won't be unwrapping it but wanted to share with everyone. Original "packaging" ? 5 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Hi Tony, very nice and rare piece. From period photos these were commonly used by officers to protect the Ito, yet almost never seen intact today. Shame the rest of the sword isn't attached! 1 Quote

Brian Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Yip. They weren't delivered like that. It was individually done to protect the ito and keep the tsuka in good condition. I agree, rare to find in that condition. Seems it did its job. Quote
