Field Grade Officers Sword help

Recently picked up this sword with a Field Grade Officers tassle ..and withs Same covered saya with a silver family Mon attatched .

I believe the sword is a Gendaito ...

You help would be greatly appreciated .

Absolutely if I had the funds I'd do the same I'm commenting more on what you've found....we dont see them with same saya very often.  Both well done sir

Id ask for translation in the translation forum.

That type of kanji is difficult for me.

Date looks like 1940.  Can't read the smith name.  As to the gendaito question, I don't see the telltale black dots or egdes in the hamon that are signs of oil quenching, so it might be gendaito.  But I'm the worst one to even comment on that stuff!

Yes, just saw that too.  As Ray said, the year is 1943.

Yes the smiths name who made the sword was Tomita Sukehiro

There is no way a sword with that hamon and signed that well is going to be Showato. Hamon is obviously traditionally done.

Most definitely a gendaito.

Sukehiro was a good smith. Definitely gendai. Part of the Kato group.

No all I know it came from the same collection as the previous one I posted ...

And the former owner had been collecting for at least sixty years ..

The date is :皇紀二千六百三年仲冬 1943 December
仲冬=中冬（Mid-winter), the second month of winter that year.
The 冬至 winter started on November 8th in 1943.
