Grey Doffin Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I just received a tsuba in the mail that had been shipped in its box. Lucky for me and the tsuba it was wrapped in paper that protected it from serious damage. The picture below shows why you never want to transport tsuba in boxes. Grey Quote
b.hennick Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 Similarly other fittings should be protectively wrapped. If not bumping in to each other can lead to damage. I recently received unwrapped fuchi kashira and one piece was not under the elastic but was free to interact with the other. Quote
Soshin Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I had to fix a few display boxes that were broken in a similar way your photo shows becasue the person selling the tusba to me shipped the tsuba inside the display box. Luckily there wasn't any damage to the tsuba(s) themselves. Quote
Jesper Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I always ask the seller to pack the tsuba outside the box. Even if carefully packed, the tsuba might act as a hammer to the peg holding it in place in the box or to the box itself and risk to be damaged. I once received a package where the box was completely demolished. I was very lucky that the tsuba wasn´t damaged from the small iron nails holding the peg in the box. Jesper Quote
