What would you think if you saw that kind of chunky clumsy mei on a sword?

You have to remember these guys were signing their name. With precision. Like a metal pen.

It should be fluid and thin. Not looking punched, cast or beaten in.

Maybe I'm wrong...but I see none of that here.

i am 75% sure brian it is a fake and a copy but i am not experienced enough yet to be 100 %....just need plenty of time and practice and hopefully not a lot of money before i get better :dunno:

Since the hole for the kozuka goes on the ura side of the sword, the mei and the decoration on this tsuba would be on the back and invisible when worn. I've noticed this with a lot of copies, the major part of the design being on the left side and hence hidden by the tsuka had it been on a sword worn in the Japanese way.
