Corry Posted February 11, 2022 Report Posted February 11, 2022 All, I saw it yesterday and spent a ton of time researching the blade. Pics aren't so good, but in some pics hada is visible and this rweaked my senses (and the extra set of drill holes). Weird thing is, is that it also has a Seki stamp on it. I spent hours attempting to decipher the highly stylized mei and it seems that some of his work I found on the net matches..it looks like he may have used different styles throughout the years. Do the ones in the pic resemble some of Gen Murata's signatures/swords. When I finally decided I was going to take my chances, it was sold ($1500). What I am wondering is, is this a very good price for a Murata gunto? What do they usually go for in this condition? It's sold, but I am asking these questions, so I am better prepared next time. PNSSHOGUN Posted February 11, 2022 Report Posted February 11, 2022 Hi Corry, short answer: no it isn't. This is the work of an unrelated Seki smith signing Kanemasa. Examples of genuine works by General Murata for reference: 1 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted February 11, 2022 Report Posted February 11, 2022 Corry, I have a few different Kanemasa on file with both Seki and Showa stamps, but I don't see one signed this way. Have you had the mei fully translated? @SteveM - mind helping me with this one? Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted February 12, 2022 Report Posted February 12, 2022 Thanks Steve! That's a new one for the files. Many of my Kanemasa on file are 21 hours ago, BANGBANGSAN said: 小銃兼正 Quote
