authorgang Posted February 7, 2022 Report Posted February 7, 2022 Can you please advise me if it is an original or a replica. Thank you very much. https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=14695009 Quote
Shamsy Posted February 7, 2022 Report Posted February 7, 2022 Looks like a Polish reproduction sword to me. The colours are very distinct. These are hard to pick though, so I'd appreciate a second opinion from @Stegel or @BANGBANGSAN 1 Quote
BANGBANGSAN Posted February 7, 2022 Report Posted February 7, 2022 Steve I'm with you ,this is a Polish repro. 1 Quote
robinalexander Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 Not sure if its my eyes but the Mune looks flat (Hira mune)? If so, its another reason it is not genuine, should be pointed (Iori mune). In any case I wouldn't buy it. 1 Quote

Wrap color is normal and worn, while the fuchi color is correct but shiny new. Saya color is mostly correct, could be lighting. Good points by all on the errors. I would add the bohi begins incorrectly, and the tsuka same' lumps/bumps aren't correct. Pics added for posterity 1 Quote
vajo Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 I was fooled by such a sword from bad pictures. With a little luck I was giving it back to the seller. In this case it looks like a similar sword with nearly the same No. When you read the description it says that it is a replica. So the offer is honest. What is rare these times. Anmerkung: Es handelt sich bei der vorliegenden Waffe wohl um eine authentische Replika. Gesamtlänge: 92cm, Klingenlänge: 69,5cm 5 Quote
Stegel Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 I agree with Steve and others, a Polish replica. Also the Habiki is not a good fit to the blade. 2 Quote
vajo Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 These pictures are amazing. The first really good pictures from such a fake NCO. You see all the details. Negative same and Menuki. The false start of the Bo-hi, the thin and to long sarute, the flat sakura above the sarute, the thin habaki, the false edges of the seppa, the thin and to long clipper,... 1 Quote

Here's the one you're likely remembering from Wehrmacht-Awards post: 1 Quote
authorgang Posted February 8, 2022 Author Report Posted February 8, 2022 Thank you for your feedback. I thought it was a replica. Quote
Shamsy Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 Should add this sword to the Fake 95 sword thread... I'll do it at some stage today or tomorrow. 1 Quote
authorgang Posted February 11, 2022 Author Report Posted February 11, 2022 So that I don't start a new topic. Is it possible to buy the original type 95 somewhere in Europe? Quote
Smee78 Posted February 14, 2022 Report Posted February 14, 2022 +1 "Also the Habiki is not a good fit to the blade." This was the first part that looked off to me. I am not to knowledgeable on the Polish repops so the additional like the paint info is much appreciated from other board members. Quote
