extremely rare early Japanese World War 2 Naval Admiral's dress sword.  This sword would make an incredibly rare addition to any collection.

This exact sword is the sword appearing in the upcoming Plimpton Collection book on Japanese military mount swords.

This sword has a 5-7-5 kiri emblem on the backstrap, and on all three gold-gilt saya fittings.  The saya is black lacquer over wood with gold-plated fittings.  This sword has a nickel-plated blade.

Note the original Admiral's knot attached to this sword.  This knot is a premium addition to this rare sword offering.

Photos are provided above from various Dawson’s book unquestionably confirming this sword as a flag rank/Admiral's sword.  Photos are provided of pages 262-264 of Jim Dawson's book Swords of Imperial Japan  1868-1945  Cyclopedia Edition.

Condition:

This incredibly rare Japanese WW2 Naval Admiral's Dress Sword is in exceptional condition.  This sword is nearly mint--with only signs of honest, very light carry.

All sword and saya fittings are perfect.  The saya looks to have had its black lacquer finish restored during World War 2.  The blade was re-nickeled during the War as well after decades of service at sea.

The nickel-plating on the blade is 99.99%--only one spot the size of the head of a pin at the base of the blade next to the guard has any nickel missing.

The sword knot is in quite perfect condition.

As I like to do 2-3 days after listing if I can--revising the listing from $6000 fixed, to $6000 or best offer.
