Ken-Hawaii Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 Greg, a little info about yourself will also help NMB members decide to make a purchase. Welcome aboard. 1 Quote
Greg Foster Posted January 30, 2022 Author Report Posted January 30, 2022 Sorry, I'll get measurements. Around 2.5 feet total I'd say for a good guesstimate. Not near as long as some I've seen for sure but it's definitely not a knife I'll check tomorrow for y'all. I added some info about me Ken & I'm thankful you welcomed me here & hope someone will take good care & appreciate this old weapon. If I ever find a Nihonto detecting, I'll be sure to post it on here to see Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted January 30, 2022 Report Posted January 30, 2022 Greg, it's a bit more complex than you might expect. Check out http://www.ncjsc.org/gloss_measure-1.html for a step-by-step approach. Quote
Greg Foster Posted January 30, 2022 Author Report Posted January 30, 2022 25 inches or so from tip to signature on handle. Quote

JH Lee Posted January 31, 2022 Report Posted January 31, 2022 Could you please post some better shots of the blade itself? Specifically would like to see the tip. Thank you. Quote
Greg Foster Posted February 1, 2022 Author Report Posted February 1, 2022 Thank you all for the warm welcome & knowledge y'all shared with me. The sword is no longer for sale. I hope to someday post some of my detecting finds from Japan. I know some of what to look for now. Thank you much, Greg Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 1, 2022 Report Posted February 1, 2022 Greg, what do you mean by 'detecting finds'? Quote
PietroParis Posted February 1, 2022 Report Posted February 1, 2022 I'd guess stuff he found while poking around with a metal detector? Quote
Kolekt-To Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 How can I learn more about Nihonto Detecting? 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 I’ve tried metal detecting in Japan and you don’t want to know about it. That’s why I was curious… 1 1 Quote
