sencho Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Last one is katana size. Looks like a gunto crapper to me. Thanks again all. Quote
Misconstrued Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 That is by far the worst manhandled nakago I've ever seen, whether it's authentic I can't tell, but I would put my guess as an older sword that someone foolishly tried to clean. -Jace 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 That is a long strip of mishandled metal but very probably not Japanese. 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 The offset machi is typical for Chinese work. It's normal on NCO 95s, but not officer swords. Even the island swords get that one right. So, COULD be an island made sword, but I'd lean toward Chinese. Quote
sencho Posted January 27, 2022 Author Report Posted January 27, 2022 Its interesting as its in quite genuine tosogu all cobbled together with this lump of junk. I tend to agree on the Chinese attribution. Weird that this crapper is with what seems to be other genuine Japanese pieces. I guess the person that had it just knew nothing. Quote
DTM72 Posted January 27, 2022 Report Posted January 27, 2022 I would give $10 for the blade, just to chop weeds. The blade itself is complete junk. Quote
sencho Posted January 27, 2022 Author Report Posted January 27, 2022 I think that would be an insult to the weeds... 1 Quote
