swords opinion request 1

Hello all after a long time

 

A friend contacted me that he had some swords that he did not know anything about and wondered if I could take a look

 

There are 3 swords and small knife which is interesting, and I will make 1 post for each so pics don't get mixed up.

Appears to be a late Edo kozuka with kogatana blade. Translation will come soon I expect. Must fit in the slot on the side of one of the scabbards for the swords?

That is a decent kozuka handle and kogatana blade.

Yes there have been quite a lot of gallivanting in the last few years!! Nothing better than a good gallivant.

 

Yes was found in the wakizashi scabbard but the tanto scabbard also has a slot 

 

Kanji seems to be 乗真  Jyoshin or Norizane ???

I don't find either in Haynes, so let's move to Translations to see if we can confirm one way or another.

乗真 = Jyōshin.

Of the Gotō family. Born in 1505 or 1512 Very long and colorful description of him in Wakayama.

any examples of his mei? The workmanship and materials seems quite different for examples online. Most have no signature too.
