New gunto pickup with wild hamon

Here’s a recent pickup that I couldn’t resist. It’s in desperate need of a polish, but you can still appreciate the beauty of this sword. It looks like clouds billowing down the shinogi. I’ll attach more pictures in a follow up.

I like the unusual shape of the habaki. Great sword!

So what swordsmith is it, Fujiwara Fuyuhiro 藤原冬廣 or Fujiwara Hisahiro 藤原久廣?  The second to last character looks like 久 but I do kinda see 冬 as well.

Maybe Unshu Ju Fujiwara Fuyuhiro. This isn't Gunto; it is a significantly earlier sword.

I note the machi is slightly offset, possibly because of the design of the habaki?

I think you are correct.  The characters then are as below.

雲州住藤原冬廣 = Unshū Jū Fujiwara Fuyuhiro.

雲州 = Izumo Province

Shiinogiyaki??  Never seen it before.  Any explanations??

Hi Kiipu, the machi is actually level, it’s just distorted in the picture. I have attached another picture to show this. It’s definitely an unusual habaki. Yes Mike, I’ll bring it next time we meet up.
