I'm starting this thread as a go-to place for upcoming events for those of us in the USA to attend in 2022. I am hoping that others will add to it as the year goes on with updates and new events to the calendar. So far, I know of these events;

  • February 23-27 Ohio Valley Military Society (OVMS) Show of Shows in Louisville, KY. @ the Kentucky Expo Center. This is a military antiques show, but alot of Nihonto, fittings, etc. can be found there. I have seen many Shin-Gunto, Kyu-Gunto and Kai-Gunto there with Showa, Meiji, Shin-Shinto, Shinto and Koto blades. Many nihonto in shira-saya and koshirae as well. This is the second largest military antique show in the USA. http://www.sosovms.com/Show_of_Shows/
  • April 22-24 Chicago Area Japanese Collectables & Sword Show, hosted by Mark Jones @ Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Shaumburg, Illinois. http://www.chicagoswordshow.com/
  • June 24-26 Orlando Japanese Sword Show in Orlando, Florida @ Doubletree by Hilton Orlando Airport. https://orlandojapaneseswordshow.com/OJSS/event/orlando-Japanese-sword-show/
  • August 5-7 San Francisco Token Kai @ San Francisco Airport Marriott Hotel. Hosted by Northern California Japanese Sword Club http://www.ncjsc.org/SF_token_kai.htm
  • Sept 15-17 OVMS MAX Show @ York Expo Center in York, Pennsylvania. This IS the largest military antique show in the USA. http://www.sosovms.com/

Everyone, please feel free to discuss and add events to this schedule.

Feel free to add valid events to the forum calendar above. Great place to keep all Nihonto related events.

Brian,

I was not aware of the calendar. I will surely add to it!

I have been going to the Japanese Sword Show in Orlando for the past 4 years and I love it. It’s a Great Show. I would like to attend the Chicago but haven’t been able to make it there yet. I attended the Maxx show last year and there were very few swords there. I attended the SOS show for many years and it was always great but I haven’t been back for a few years, I hear it is still a very big show with something for everyone. I will be making my reservation for the Orlando Show as soon as they are available and hope to see everyone there.

I honestly have NOT been to the MAX show in about 10 years. It used to be at the EXPO Mart near Pittsburgh and was called the largest show then. Now that they have relocated to York, PA., I am hearing it is now smaller than the SOS... making the SOS the largest Military Antique show in the USA.

The National Gun Day is held at the same weekend and is the largest gun and knife show in the USA. I have found some Nihonto there as well.

I have already booked flights to attend the SOS and National Gun Day.

Brian,

My small brain cannot figure out how to add events to the calendar. What is the trick?

https://www.tulsaarmsshow.com/ claims to have more tables than http://www.nationalgunday.com/

I guess I fell victum to the hype...pre-internet, you could say stuff like that and it was hard to refute. So that being said,

April 2-3, 2022 Tulsa Arms Show @ Tulsa Fairgrounds in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is the largest gun and knife show "IN THE WORLD". https://www.tulsaarmsshow.com/

I played with the settings a bit. Members can now add events, review them, rsvp and a bunch of other things.
This could be a very useful resource if the members make use of it.

Bringing this one to the top.

OVMS Show of Shows this coming weekend. I know of 2 Nihonto dealers that will be set-up there. I was unable to get a table so I will be walking around with a roller case that has 11 different swords of all sizes. My wife and I will be walking around with a few out of the case to garner interest. Looking to buy, sell and trade for other Nihonto.

Speak-up if you are going. Look forward to meeting others from the board.
