Arisaka1995 Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 Greetings all, I was recently given a Type 95 as a gift. Upon extensive forum surfing, I am not satisfied due to the inspectors mark being off slightly. What do you all think? Ps, sorry, it does not like my hi-def pictures and says they are too big to load most of them. If more pictures are needed, I will find a way. 2 Quote
robinalexander Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 Clayton, Looks good to me. Early second version of the Type 95 (with copper fuchi). Stamps appear to be, in order, Suya Shoten Co Ltd, Tokyo 1st Inspection mark and Tokyo 1st Army Arsenal. A lot of wear to the tsuka (handle) with no paint remaining.....sword and saya numbers don't match but neither of these things are the end of the world Rob If I am wrong with this I am moving on to collecting marbles! 2 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 It’s a good one, no worries. It is normal to see variation in stamping styles and locations. 2 Quote
Shamsy Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 Real, not rotter. If you can avoid handling it without gloves it'll last much better. 1 Quote
ChrisAWilson Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 I'm definitely not a Model 95 expert but I'd buy that one all day! Looks good to me! Quote
Arisaka1995 Posted December 14, 2021 Author Report Posted December 14, 2021 Thanks all! This is relieving to hear! Looks like eBay can have some goodies once you get past all the trash. Time to get some proper storage for the new addition to my collection. 1 Quote
Kiipu Posted December 18, 2021 Report Posted December 18, 2021 A pretty straight forward Suya dating toward the end of the war. This is the second to last variation made by them. The last variation is the same as yours except the blade fuller was discontinued starting at about serial number 154529. The scabbard is also made by Suya except it is for an earlier sword. I would not worry too much about the mismatched scabbard though. It is a good sword and will display nicely. Quote
