Mark S. Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 All, I asked Brian to upload an article titled “Swords of the Tea Masters” in pdf format. It was in a periodical called “Chanoyu Quarterly” which is now out of print. While not in-depth Nihonto info and written more for a tea ceremony practitioner audience, some might still enjoy the read. You will find it in the ‘download’ section. Hope you will find it interesting. Mark S. 7 Quote
Fuuten Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 I'm definitely going to check it out. Thanks for sharing (and preserving it for posterity). Quote
sabi Posted December 9, 2021 Report Posted December 9, 2021 Right up my alley, thanks for sharing! 👺🙏🍵 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 9, 2021 Report Posted December 9, 2021 I posted my thanks on the download page, but to reiterate - I really appreciate your article post. We spend a lot of time on the mechanics of our collecting, but what I love is when we get the smallest of glimpses into the real people and lives that these blades came from. This article has several stories (real and legendary) of the people involved around these blades, each one worthy of a book and/or movie in everything human - pain, dedication, loss, sacrifice, honor... the list goes on. I love these peeks into the history these blades came from! 3 Quote
Steve Waszak Posted December 10, 2021 Report Posted December 10, 2021 Many thanks for this, Mark. A very interesting and informative read. In particular, I appreciate how much it underscores the high importance of Tea Culture for the buke in the Momoyama and early-Edo periods. Quote
Fuuten Posted December 20, 2021 Report Posted December 20, 2021 It took me a while to get to it but now that I have. Thank you very much for sharing it! Great read I enjoyed. Quote
