As you all know, I am near freezing zero concerning translation (apart a few kanji).

I have swapped a tsuka against another one leather wrapped with dragon theme

It is signed but I don't know anything about the artist not even his name, can anybody help me?

Jean,

I wouldn't necessarily assume gimei. If gimei, I think they would have tried to match the kao exactly. This is significantly different, so either a different smith, a variation of his over time, or someone unrecorded.

I checked Joly as well, Jean. The kao there is the same as that in Haynes, the difference being; the bottom loop is smaller and the lower stroke through it is horizontal not slanted. I can't find this smith in the Kinko Meikan, doesn't mean he is not listed, I could have missed him. Not qualified to judge shoshin or not. John

I should remeber it as I own the tsuba, thanks my silent Bungo Ronin, whereever you are.

I'll check this afternoon for the kao

Yeah Milt, we know you are preoccupied, but I think you would be forgiven if you were to do a bit of an off topic post just letting us know how things are going in the military there, even if you can't give us specific details :)

I have him on Facebook...and from the latest pics it looks like Milt is doing just fine. He isn't starving if all those food pics are anything to go by :rotfl:

Mmmmmm...snow crab.

Sheesh...so is it going to be 'name, rank and serial number" only from now on? :glee:

How about telling us a bit about it? You have permission to hijack Jean's thread.

Stephen,

Is this the infamous 4th paintball-platoon, haunting the Appalachian mountains since they have lost their way back home in 1978? And which one is Milt?

LOL yes Milt still shows his battle scars each time they sit down for a brew or two, by rolling up his sleeves and showing what happens when you low crawl for fifteen yards.

He was also known as head honcho(Merry Prankster) in the squad that took sword show members head shots and placed them on Desert Storm pilfers and looters, not to reflect his political leaning he can be found on the far right.
