Bungo Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 according to ukyo-e convention............. the cross dresser ( Tokugawa shogunate forbid real ladies to be part of the kabuki playas ) wore a piece of " oval shape " cloth over the forehead. I don't see such headgear so i assume she is a she..................... all it takes is 36.00 + bucks to win the auction and you can examine the entanglement and figure out what belongs to whom............ here's the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/A-Japanese-erotic-p ... dZViewItem milt the ronin Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I have never understood the fascination for such contorted sex that appears in these prints, okimono, netsuke and the like. I know in the cold season that the charcoal brazier barely kept you from freezing (only heat in the more remote sections of China0 but the issue of most of these depictions being clothed in delecto, so to speak always made me feel that the husband was expected home any second. John A Stuart Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Hi Milt, Yeah there are some less clothed, must be summer!!! Illustrates why it was the floating world. The artists had to be on something to have such spatial distortion. It seems those artistic types liked to hang around these places Chapel St., London, Moulin Rouge, Left Bank, Paris, French Quarter, New Orleans, USA etc. John Quote
Brian Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 actually I am wondering when OUR board censor will be " coming home " He's hoooome..... I think we are mostly adult enough to handle these subjects (right Milt?) but I must add that if there is anyone who finds this offensive, then pm me and I'll take it down. It is Japanese art, and (was) on topic..but let's not go purposefully looking for vintage porn if we can help it? Brian Quote

Guest Simon Rowson Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Last week was graduation time here in Japan and many young ladies were wearing the traditional combination of long sleeved kinono and hakama for their graduation ceremonies. One particularly beautiful girl was wearing a stunning kimono with the pattern that originally inspired this thread. I was itching to take a photo but A: the wife was with me and B: I knew I'd just look like a dirty old man taking pictures of gorgeous girls! So, sorry guys....no picture Simon Quote

John A Stuart Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hi Simon, I've been to a few ceremonies that involved traditional kimono but have never attended graduation ceremonies. I've seen women wear hakama in the dojo but never anywhere else. Is this a standard practise or a new thing? John Quote

Bungo Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 sure looks wayyyyyyyyyyy better than the girls with their prom dress in Alabama. Thanks, good pic. p.s. Simon, now go self- flagellate for not courageous enough to take the pic. Onward to page 13 with over 10,000 served !! milt the ronin Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hi Koichi-san, Thanks for the pic. That seems familiar but never really noticed they were hakama. I must say I prefer kimono on women without them. John Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 look for beauty's obi http://cgi.ebay.fr/Beauty-and-Samurai-K ... dZViewItem Quote
Guest Simon Rowson Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Hi John, The hakama worn by female graduates seems to be one-piece like a skirt, rather than divided, which would make sense as they have to fit a long, very expensive kimono inside it. For obvious reasons I didn't approach any of the young ladies and ask them to lift their hakama for me "for research purposes"!! I've flaggelated myself as requested Milt and, by way of apology, here is a pic of two "Gothic Lolita's" at Harajuku (that I wasn't too shy to photograph). A little off topic Brian I know, but I have to keep the guys happy wherever possible! :D Simon Quote
Bungo Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 for 10,000 beans you took that pic.............. go flagellate some more. p.s. page 13 yet ? milt the ronin Quote
Guest Simon Rowson Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Don't know about the beans Milt but I just sent you another pic as a PM.......way too off topic for this (or any other) thread! Enjoy, Simon Quote
Nobody Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 look for beauty's obi http://cgi.ebay.fr/Beauty-and-Samurai-K ... dZViewItem Hi, The theme of the pic seems to be Jiraiya (児雷也) and his wife Tsunade (綱手) of a Kabuki program. FYI; Jiraiya http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiraiya Quote
