Ray Singer Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 This is a great, and perfectly healthy, katana by the Yokoyama Bizen smith Sukenaga. This blade is by the second generation, who was considered the 57th generation descendant of Bizen Tomonari. The blade is textbook example of Shinshinto Yokoyama work with a sharply defined choji-ba hamon in nioi-deki and having a tightly ko-itame hada. The blade is in new Japanese polish and shirasaya, with a very nice shin-gunto koshirae having a kamon on the kabuto-gane. The blade was found as-seen with the tassel attached to the ashi, and a replacement sarute was never added. There is an NTHK kanteisho which confirms the mei and which specifies that this is the nidai (second generation). Mei: Bizen Osafune Yokoyama Sukenaga Nengo: Bunkyu gannen hachi gatsu hi Nagasa: 68.3 cm Motohaba: 32mm Kasane: 6.5mm $8,750 (plus shipping & PayPal)
