Lareon Posted October 28, 2021 Report Posted October 28, 2021 A sword I purchased around a month ago in the US. Nothing special but in good condition 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 28, 2021 Report Posted October 28, 2021 Nice! So now we know who bought that! I have filed pics from the auction site. He's also one of the very few non-RJT smiths in my database with stamped numbers on the nakago. 1 Quote
Kiipu Posted November 2, 2022 Report Posted November 2, 2022 @Lareon What is the date of this Yoshiharu with the number 250? Edit: Change of direction on this as I located your other post which shows the other side of the tang. Instead, my question is are there any M inspection marks on either side of the tang? WW2 Era Tang translation help Expand I'll have the blade in hand on Saturday so will check for you then. From memory I do not remember it having any other stamps though, I went through my photos of the sword and didn't see any so ill take another look saturday Quote
Kiipu Posted November 2, 2022 Report Posted November 2, 2022 Thanks Tony. Even though yours is undated, based upon the number, I think it was made at or after Autumn 1944. This is based upon the link you provided to the one over at GriffinMilitaria.com. This is an interesting development as it would seem Yoshiharu was no longer under contract with the army. 200 1944 Autumn, no M inspection marks. 250 Mumei, M unknown. 2 Quote
Lareon Posted November 5, 2022 Author Report Posted November 5, 2022 @Kiipu So I've popped off the tsuka and after close inspection it does have the m/w mark. Very small beneath the 250. Also every seppa fuchi even retaining clip had the 250 too 2 Quote
Kiipu Posted November 5, 2022 Report Posted November 5, 2022 Thanks for the pictures Tony. Now that I compare yours to the one over at GriffinMilitaria.com, I can see that both have a faint M inspection mark. These two are the last ones known coming from Yoshiharu 義治. 200 1944 Autumn, M inspection mark. 250 Undated, M inspection mark. Below is a list showing the overall view of the M inspection mark. You can now add 1944 Autumn to the Yoshiharu column. The Mysterious "w" Stamp!, Page 4 2 Quote

Nihonto Chicken Posted November 9, 2022 Report Posted November 9, 2022 They keep turning up! Link below to an old Yoshiharu thread, FWIW. 1 Quote
