jct3602 Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 Just curious as to thoughts about period, since so many heianjo-ish tsuba were produced. this one came cheaply; the seller's picture made it look bad. With some careful cleaning by a friend of mine, much improvement, and the inferior looking side actually is better now than the one the seller choose to display. Small picture before, the other 2 as is now. 7.14x7.14 cm; .41 rim, .38 seppa thickness. john twineham 2 Quote
Spartancrest Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 John very similar to this one [more expensive than what you paid ] I don't think the description of 'design of bamboo' should be taken at face value. I could be wrong but it is reminiscent of the snowflake type. Quote
PietroParis Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 The inlaid brass loops in John's tsuba look better to me (I mean, much more regular) than in the example above. 2 Quote
GRC Posted October 24, 2021 Report Posted October 24, 2021 maybe gingko leaves? and nice clean up job Quote
Spartancrest Posted October 25, 2021 Report Posted October 25, 2021 I agree John's piece has much better inlay work and has 'come up' well. [besides the Amida-yasuri one is not mine and I have no 'motherly' protection interfering with my judgement] Quote
