IJASWORDS Posted September 30, 2021 Report Posted September 30, 2021 Could someone help with this part of a MEI, which is the name of the person for which the sword was made, thanks. Quote
mywei Posted September 30, 2021 Report Posted September 30, 2021 I'm not 100% of the last three characters (mb completely wrong), but could be 塚原殿 謹作 Lord Tsukahara, made with care 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 1, 2021 Report Posted October 1, 2021 Lord Tsukahara is somewhat archaic for the Showa period, by that point the Kazuko system was in place for ex Daimyo (Prince-Marquess-Count-Viscount-Baron). Can only guess there may be a connection there. The only officer of import with that name is Nishio Tsukahara but it appears there is no mention of him being the head of a Daimyo family. Quote
SteveM Posted October 1, 2021 Report Posted October 1, 2021 塚原 銘鎚? Tsukahara inscribed the mei Suggested without much confidence, except that I do feel the ones following Tsukahara are both kane-hen. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 1, 2021 Report Posted October 1, 2021 Interesting, we have seen polishers Mei but can't recall seeing the name of Mei cutter before. Quote
