RLDRIVER Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Hi All I am hoping someone can help. I have an O-Wakizashi staying with me. I have registration papers for it that state the smith was a Nagamitsu of the Muromachi period. I understand there were many smiths called Nagamitsu but I wondered if the signature allowed for narrowing down the date? I would be very happy if anyone could help. Picture attached. Quote
nickm Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 They will need pictures of the full blade. As detailed as possible 1 Quote
raaay Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 At first glance , it IS NAGAMITSU . we need more photos to try and put a date on it ! 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Registration papers do not typical give assessments on age. I have never seen one that went beyond stating mumei or any extant inscriptions (plus other vitals). I am guessing it is the same for your torokusho, that it simply states Nagamitsu, but please do share a photo. 1 Quote
RLDRIVER Posted September 23, 2021 Author Report Posted September 23, 2021 Thanks for the replies. I have tried to get as close up as possible as well as more general shots. I can get shots of the torokusho if needs be. If you need something more specific let me know Quote
