Mint 1883 naval kai Gunto

I’ve always wanted a nice Naval kyu Gunto but ones in mint condition are so few and far in between! 
 

thankfully last week I acquired this piece. Absolutely mint Koshaire, Shinto mumei blade in good polish, 25 inches

Tease us, hope closer pix of blade, tsuka back strap, what engraving it has are to come. Nakago too, even mumei we can get a feeling of what school.

Here you go Stephen, my untrained eyes says the lack of Sori puts it somewhere in Kanbun era, Osaka school maybe ?

The round end of nakago makes me think Bizen.

@gun addictOh wow, what a beautiful set!! I think I’m saving my pennies for a kyu next. I love the East-meets-West aspect of them.
 

Would you mind please sharing what price you paid? You could PM me too if you don’t want to publicly. I ask because I haven’t many for sale in person, so I’m left chasing online bidding  and wondering what the general fair market is right now.

These tend to command a premium compared to Kyu Gunto, especially if they are in as such fine condition as Tim shared.

it dosnt matter what you paid as long as its the best example you found that you can afford.
