Authentic? Guntos

I have a guy who has a few swords he has collected over so many years and is wanting to part with. The pictures of the swords he has for sale are below:

 

 

 

 

The 2nd from the top and 2nd from the bottom were the most of interest to me. The 2nd from the top appeared to be a type 94 and both of them appeared to have pretty decent sized blades. The third and fourth from the top appear to be signed 

 

After receviving not the best pics to identify, I asked for a couple of more of the original two i had liked. I received these pictures.

 

 

 

 

The tang on the bottom one seems to be of very low quality and wouldnt match type 98 mountings would it? The other one with the 4 holes it seems to have quite a bit of rust as well. I have asked for a few pictures of the kissaki. Does anyone have any opinions on these swords?

One of the swords you depict is thought to be for Chinese use with a Chinese made blade and Japanese made fittings.  I have knowledge of only two, and one is incomplete.  The fittings sometimes show up in Japan.  Fairly uncommon to say the least.

It's too hard to keep track of what tsuka, blade and handle belong to which from these photos. Whatever the blade on top in the most recent pictures belongs to is authentic to my eyes.

so the blad on the top is the #2 sword from the first set of pictured. The one I believe is a type 94. It is also the one with 4 holes in the tang and is rusty.

Ok, that looks to be the pick of the bunch, see if you can get better photos of the two hangers, handle and tsuba. Should be able to give you more info with those. It's possible some of the handles have been mixed up as well.

The last one looks like an NCO sword but add 石突 and 責金 from Type 98 on NCO scabbard.

Including the one showed in that thread, I saw two of those 斉燮元奨刀.
The other one says 總長斉燮元奨。

Hard to say for all but this 4 are obvious fake ones.

Pretty sure this is copy not real deal.

The top one....lower has better chance of being a decent wakizashi

It's always a problem when stuff is jumbled up, it's why I get a bit twitchy when someone piggybacks on a thread with a different item. 

 

 This style keeps turning up and I thinks it's a legit Showa empire piece, but whether it's for Manchuria or Chinese collaborators I cannot say.

I also think that the items at top have a complicated history, with old genuine mounts and  pieces salted through with dubious stuff. 

If anyone wanted to move on a damaged or very poor condition (unsaleable) Nihonto, sticking some genuine(ish) WW2 mounts on it would make an otherwise junk blade readily saleable, because militaria sells by a different criteria to Nihonto.
