Kolekt-To Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Congrats Stephen! Sorry that you couldn't impress Chris with a dirty Rin Tin Tin example. Lol! That's a beautiful blade and koshirae. 2 Quote
george trotter Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Yes, congrats Stephen...gotta love the RJT swords. 2 Quote
ChrisW Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 No idea who this Chris Bowen guy is, but he sounds like a real nob. Also, congrats! That's a gorgeous blade you've got there. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Mr Bowen has done a considerable amount of work for the research of Gendaito over the years, there is no need to call him petty names. This is a really great sword, why there is so much discussion on the condition of the Nakago as opposed to the blade is baffling. 2 2 Quote
Brian Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Agree. Saw the pile-on. Ignore it. Lovely sword. Beautiful choji and stunning activity. A sword to enjoy. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted September 14, 2021 Author Report Posted September 14, 2021 It is what it is. 40+ post on it slept hour or so 60+ post, didn't care to read anymore troll's wanting to impress somebody Chris? I don't know so i deleted it. Its a fine sword indeed. Now if i could get it to grow a inch. Ol mates down under Bazza? Or King Trotter ? Schooled me on shorter blades so im learning my lesson. Or trying too. Quote
george trotter Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Looks nice Stephen...pretty sure Bruce (maybe he has already checked this?) will be interested in your tang stamp/number "ho"84. 1 Quote

Stephen Posted September 14, 2021 Author Report Posted September 14, 2021 George he it got month or so ago when i uncovered it. (Rin Tin Tin was a famous dog in a 1950's western series.) Its a joke i don't like calling type 3 RS mounts. Read around and you'll get it. Quote
Stephen Posted September 14, 2021 Author Report Posted September 14, 2021 Ok after no thought at all I'll not use RTT Too obscure I think I'll change it to Ren and Snippy RS right 1 3 Quote
MarcoUdin Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Glad somebody from the board got this one, looks super nice Stephen! And even better the dust seal seppa isn't missing 1 Quote
Stephen Posted September 14, 2021 Author Report Posted September 14, 2021 Ok RS owners. Spending a better part of a hour whittling a chopstick to make a peg. Test try i go that dont feel right. Peering in the hole with a flashlight i see built-in brass nuts. Nuts is right how come i never picked up on that is beyond me. LOL 😅 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 Yes, the hole nearest the tsuba is almost always a screw, while the one near the kabutogane is a mekugi. Quote
Stephen Posted September 14, 2021 Author Report Posted September 14, 2021 Mine is not that nice funnel shape. I think the rear one even though peged looks as tho threaded. Quote
Bryce Posted September 14, 2021 Report Posted September 14, 2021 G'day Stephen, I have a mumei shinshinto katana with what looks like similar hada and hamon. I have always thought I would love to find a gunto with a beautiful blade like that and guess what, you have beaten me to it! Look forward to some more photos of the blade. Cheers, Bryce 1 Quote
