I have unpacked it and another Japanese sword (tantō) I submitted both came back undamaged from the flights to and from Orlando via Southwest airlines. I am very happy. 1 Quote
Jacques Posted June 24, 2024 Report Posted June 24, 2024 Quote This would mean the sword was likely the work of the 3rd Kanemoto also known as the 2rd Magoroku master. No it's a later generation Nidai Magoroku worked Tenbun 1532-1555 Tensho = 1573-1592 1 1 Quote

Perhaps the NTHK will be more generous. Thanks for sharing! Regards 1 Quote

This sword was sent to the NTHK shinsa during the Orlando show. 14 hours ago, Franco D said: Would love to see additional images of the entire blade if possible? I have a few more bad photos to share. I cannot setup for any new bad photos as I am back at work today and need to take my car in for service as the air conditioner stopped over the weekend. I need to do this before I start work. 1 1 Quote
Soshin Posted January 10 Author Report Posted January 10 Just wanted to update this thread from last June about this sword one last time. I was finally able to do some scans of the NTHK papers I received in early December. The attribution was to "Kodai Kanemoto (後代兼元)" meaning a later generation of Kanemoto that was still working in Mino Provience around the time of the Tensho Era (1573-1592 CE). I will be adding this additional information to my write-up about the sword soon. P.S. Just notice that my scan of the oshigata of the nakago was not complete as it is long being a katana and an orikaeshi-mei. The oshigata of the nakago is complete just a bit hard to scan it with my printer. 3 Quote
