Geraint Posted August 28, 2021 Report Posted August 28, 2021 Dear Glenn. Well you know that it's been shortened, right? If it had a mei that looks like it will have gone along with the original nakago. Narrow shinogi ji and overall shape, I would start with sue koto and work from there. We don't have a useful photograph of the kissaki which is a shame. Tsuba is one of the regular designs for Echizen Kinai saku and it seem to have a kogai where you might expect a kodzuka. Nice saya. Any use? All the best. 1 Quote

AntiquarianCat Posted September 8, 2021 Report Posted September 8, 2021 Hello Glenn, I also agree with the late muromachi attribution: it looks like your sword has a lot of sakisori and a fairly wide mihaba. If it helps, Markus Sesko has an excellent site for recognizing date by sugata https://markussesko.com/2015/04/03/kantei-1-sugata-6/ Quote
David Flynn Posted September 9, 2021 Report Posted September 9, 2021 The Blade is Tired. The Jitetsu is weak towards the Hamachi. It wouldn't take a polish. I believe, the weak area of the Jitestsu would open up a lot more. Quote
