Osafune Sukesada. Shinto yes or no

The whole blade will probably tell more than one short signature of the 40 or so Sukesada smiths.

It looks very poor in the way its cut.

 

And not typical of that you see on either sue koto or early shinto.

I would want to see more pics of kissaki area. Maybe angle of picture? Looks very damaged /mis-shaped?  Not sure if it could be repaired/re-shaped during polish?

Im afraid your going to get the same answer here as Facebook. Amateur cut gimei, nakagos not even bizen. I wouldn't put it older than 1800s

I have a Shinto Era Osafune Sukesada wakizashi that is signed and dated with NBTHK Hozon papers up on my business website for sale here: Antique Japanese Short Sword (Wakizashi) by Sukesada | Rain Dragon Fine Art (raindragonfineartandantiques.com). Comparing your sword to my sword art polish or not I would need to agree with Hamfish, Stephen, and others assessment.
