Peter,

There's a mei there?

Wow...not a lot to go on. All I can see is saku.

Not much help, but I tried a bit of image manipulation. Doubt it is any easier though.

Orikaeshi on a yari is unusual though.

Thanks Markus.

Brian, it's a 7.3" nagasa yari that's been shortened to use as a tanto. Needs a polish badly.

Could this be koto or is it one of the shinto Iyekuni from Etchu?

Hm, I would agree with Etchû, but would go for kotô Uda school, because the Bizen

Iekuni would have signed rather with "Bishû Osafune" at prefix. But that´s just a

speculation.

Hi Markus, I read your article 'Sword Prices, Origami and Samurai Income' a couple of days ago. It was a very good article. I am sure those of the NMB who did not receive it would be anxious to read it. If it is allowed. John

Hi John.

Yes, that´s fine. How shall we post this article? Brian?

Just one thing has to be remarked: It is a translation of the

written form of a german lecture I held last year for the NBTHK,

so it might not be that extensive it probably could be.

PS: Sorry for keeping this "at thread" and lapsing into off-topic ;)

I forgot to mention on the other side of the fold there are more kanji but these have suffered badly from rust and can't be read. It looks to be about 4 extra kanjii proceeding the Iyekuni.

Hm, with a lot of fantasy and taking some of the

rusty spots as strokes, the last character "could be"

mura (村). But it is rather like reading in some of

those 3d-pics.

Markus,

I would love to see the article!

Could you perhaps email it to me? I will see if I can clean it up and make it into a pdf and upload it as an article. Sounds great.

Regards,

Brian

what do you think about Soshu Yasukuni 相州康国?

I think Markus is right with the Iyekuni. I can see where your coming from with the Soshu but it looks more like a mura :?
