John A Stuart Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 That is a nicely preserved example of a Kai-gunto. Date seems Tenna 4, but, it only lasted 3 years?? Whats the smith name? John Quote
Nobody Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 That is a nicely preserved example of a Kai-gunto. Date seems Tenna 4, but, it only lasted 3 years?? Whats the smith name? John Yes, the date inscription is suspicious. The last day of Tenna was 20th day in 2nd month of Tenna 4 (1684). Quote
Javi E Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 I have no more photos at the moment, the email name is Nagamiche 28". I don´t know if this is a smiths name. How much could cot this sword, if original of course. Quote
Stephen Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Javi, what everyone is pointing out in my mind is the sword does not look to be from Shinto era,and the dates dont run true, if true one of the best preserved nakago I've seen. I have a feeling it was added to a showa blade, just a gut feeling, some references read tenwa must be same as tenan, I have never run across that before. you might want to step back from this seller as he has told you each time your about to buy sword its sold, the one on Ebay did not sell, its enough red flags to go look elsewhere. IMHO Quote
Javi E Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 yes, this seller doesnt give me a good feelings,....he is asking 5000$ for this sword....and 2500$ for a WW2 navy swords....made in WW2.....i will pass on this guy.... thank you friends for your expert opinions. Quote
