Marius Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Dear All, I believe that I may have Shibata Mitsuo origami attributing a tanto to the Naotane school. Since I cannot read it, I would kindly ask for your assistance and forgiveness of my ignorance of the Japanese language and its hiragana, katakana and kanji. I would not be so impudent as to ask you for a full translation, if you please, I would be very happy with the author of the origami and a brief description of his attribution. I am sorry to bother you with that. Thank you very much PS: should better pictures be needed, I will try to produce some, as this origami is already in my possession (alongside the tanto) Quote
Markus Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Hi Mariusz, Yes, it´s an origami issued by Shibata Mitsuo. The attribution reads: tantô, mumei, Yamon Naokatsu 短刀 無銘 弥門直勝 Musashi Edo-jû jidai Bakumatsu 武州江戸住 時代幕末 hachô kusun ichibu aru no 刃長九寸一分有之 Quote
Nobody Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Markus’ reading is amazing. I was unsure about 時代幕末 part before reading his answer. Some corrections: 武州 – Bushu 有之 – “ari kore” or “kore ari” BTW, the length could be 九寸八分, though I am unsure??? Quote
Markus Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Thank you for the corrections, Koichi-san. Too early in the morning, or better, too late at night here in central Europe Quote
Marius Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 Dear Markus, dear Koichi-san, I am very grateful for your kind help and as always very impressed with your kindness to ignorant people like myself. Thank you very much indeed Quote
