Half of a Mei? Can't see any hamon in the blade, and it looks acid etched. Are you wanting to buy this?

I would not buy this at any money. Even if there is something Japanese under there somewhere, and I doubt it....it is ruined. Bad sugata, horimono looks modern laser etched. Just bad all round.

A cheap decoration item, not Japanese.

I think someone modified a chinese made tanto to scam someone.

 

I got this as a gift when ordering kendo equipment from a seller that also sells chinese made katana.

I am leaning towards not Japanese for all the reasons stated above, plus I see only Damascus.
