Gyonen shichi ju shichi sai

Kashu Ju

Mizuno Minamoto Yotsuro saku

Made at the age of 77 years

Residing in Kaga province

Made by Mizuno Minamoto Yotsuro. Not sure of the reading on this last word might be Yoro, Yottsuro or Shiro. Last one seems unlikely given the unlucky connotation.

Hmm,

although I think Moriyama san has the right reading, all I can find was a “Minamoto Shirō Norikatsu” (源四郎則勝. A late Edo guy – Aki – Hōan school (法安).

There are three Genshirō smiths in Wakayama. The smith in this thread is the second listing (page 139 in the Japanese edition).

Mid-Edo.

It says:

Genshirō. Family of Mizuno. Extant works of fuchi/kashira signed "Mizuno Genshirō, Kinpu-jū". From Kanazawa city in Kaga. Mid-Edo.
