Stephen Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 I have had a few PMs without notice from the board, any one else not getting a email stating you have PM's? Dont think its AOL as nothing in spam folder. Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 I got the last one a couple days ago, duly announced by e-mail. Want to check sending one to me now ? Quote
Brian Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 I have had one or 2 people telling me that they didn't get forum notification emails. I have checked all settings, and nothing appears wrong. I need to know if this is constant or sporadic. Can anyone tell me if they receive some of the emails, or none of them? Also helps to turn on the pm popups that will let you know if you have a pm as soon as you log in. So is this happening every time, or just sometimes? Brian Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Hi Brian. I've duly received notification of both the incoming test PM and your new post in this thread I've subscripbed. Seems all ok for me. Quote
Brian Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Anyone experiencing this problem, please post the theme you are using. I think Piers had it, and you Stephen. Both on Black Pearl? Would be good to find a pattern here. Thanks for the test Carlo. Brian Quote
Stephen Posted January 12, 2009 Author Report Posted January 12, 2009 i had a notice this morning after i posted from Dick T. i just sent myself one see the message waiting on notice. Quote
Jean Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 I am using Black Pearl, everything is OK for me Quote
Ed Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 I sent a pm a few days ago and have received no reply. Don't know if it is a problem or the other party has not opened it yet ?? Quote
Stephen Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 Ed click on new messages on the left youll see out box if it has number by it that will tell you which ones have not been read. Quote
Ed Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks Stephen. There is a (1) showing. I don't know whether that indicates it has not been read or did not go through. ?? Quote
Jean Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Ted, If it is PM, it went probably through but was not opened Quote
Brian Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Ed, Very simple. When you send a pm, it goes to your outbox and stays there until the person reads it. Only then is it considered sent and shows in your sent box. That way, you can easily see at any stage if the other person has read it. If it is in your out box, that person has not checked their pm's and read it. Remember to periodically clear out your sent box and any old pm's. Brian Quote
loiner1965 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 not getting any emails telling me i have messages like i use to do nor is it opening up when i log in etc......use to do both when i first regestered and i have not changed any settings...only time i know i have a message is by the private message link on the task bar changes colour and its hardly noticable Quote
Stephen Posted June 22, 2009 Author Report Posted June 22, 2009 Back to not getting notice for PMs Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Hi Stephen. Check now. Just sent a test one. Quote
Stephen Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 well that one worked. Thanks Carlo Quote
edzo Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 I recieved them in the begining but not anymore. Ed Quote
Lorenzo Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Just taking the chance.. I've sent one to Mantis Dude and one to Jean that are still in my outbox from days; I think both of them didn't received the PM notice :? Quote
Stephen Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 just hand one from Joe...no notice Quote
Brian Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Have done everything I can do from a server point of view. All I can suggest now is clearing cookies and logging in again. Also clear pc cache occasionally. However email notifications can be buggy sometimes, depending on dns servers that week worldwide. AOL particularly. Beats me I have the popup set for me, and works every time I come here. Brian Quote
Jean Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 Sorry Lorenzo, but I didn't find the "out of office" button, I am on holidays (a week in Normandy chasing birds - naughty boys and starting tomorrow 15 days in SW of France Quote
Rich T Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Curious, I have found a couple of times my account settings have changed, and I do not receive PM's, emails, and links etc have been removed. Ghosts' in the machine ? Rich Quote
Brian Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Rich, That is odd indeed. Ican't think of any way that can happen unless someone hacked your account or it was just some bug For the record, I don't have access to anyone's password here. Not sure what settings changed, but haven't noticed anything like that happening to me. I do suggest people change their password every few months..but please remember what it was And please do keep me informed of any occurrences like this. Brian Quote
outlier48 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Hi Brian - PM is working perfectly for me. I have received a "heads up" email notice for each PM I have received. Just thought you would like to know. Charlie Quote
drbvac Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Mine has worked well since I started BUT it is often just as easy to send an e-mail directly and identify yourself as ---- from the NMB and go from there. Often quicker and doesn't require the loggin on board to receive replies. Quote
