Hi gents!

I am new to the forum and to this collecting genre in general. I have always been fascinated by the craftmanship in the Japanese swords in general, but combined with my interest in ww2 it has been guided to the field of shin guntos. I collect mainly ww2 german and swedish militaria but I am now hoping to add at least one shin gunto to this collection (if I know myself there will be more..).

I am looking for a shin gunto with ancestoral gendaito in good condition. I found this ( https://www.catawiki.com/sv/l/32184421-Japan-signed-arsenal-autentic-seki-ju-kawamura-kaneri-arsenal-Japanese-samurai-sword-ww2-ija-shin-gunto-army-katana-imperial-army-with-tassel-katana-svard)   now for sale again on a swedish site, but as far as I can tell from the description this is a shawato made pre war? But then is there any reason for it being this expensive that I am missing?

Also do you have any good reputable dealers that might help me find what I am looking for (preferably in europe)?

Thank you for all the help in advance!

Best regards

Alex

Alex,

This blade was made in WWII, though not dated, the large Seki stamp puts it's likely date in the 1940-1944 range and most likely 1942.  The smith is Kaneyoshi.

Other guys will have to help you with European dealers.  You might try posting in the WANTED TO BUY section here at NMB.

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for clearing up the information about the sword, then it seems the descriptoion was a bit off and at least as far as I have seen - wah to pricy.

That sounds more apropriate, will post there as well - thanks again!
