Crawdaddi0 Posted May 10, 2021 Report Posted May 10, 2021 Hey guys! New here so if I’m posting this in the wrong place, I apologize. I know the photos aren’t very good, but do you guys see anything that would confirm my suspicions that these are both fakes? Thanks in advance for any contributions. Quote
Mark Posted May 10, 2021 Report Posted May 10, 2021 bottom, or right one looks real, top or left is a fake. 1 2 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted May 10, 2021 Report Posted May 10, 2021 I would side with MARK on this, without better pictures. At best the one on the left is suspect. However, better pictures might reveal some thing else. 1 Quote

That was the main reason I was considering these as fakes. However, you could be right about the Type 98 being real. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted May 10, 2021 Report Posted May 10, 2021 Type 98 is good and looks promising, the "Type 94" is a Chinese replica. 1 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted May 11, 2021 Report Posted May 11, 2021 I agree with John, the “acid etch“ is Damascus steel which is classic Chinese. The black, or purpleish, ray skin is also a clear Chinese sign. The metalwork hurts my eyes, and it’s quite refreshing to see the other one which is completely legitimate. Quote
