Jcremer24 Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 Hey all, Sorry for spamming the board with some not so pretty swords. Im more curious about this sword rather than interested in buying. Seller claims it is from the Kamakura period (mei is Nagamitsu). I dont like the nakago. Maybe the pictures, but seems too clean? I would curious about the signature. Appears to be on the right side for Kamakura? What do blades in this time period typically go for? I dont see them pop up very often from reputable dealers, which also throws up flags for me Quote
Katsujinken Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 This is Katana Boutique on eBay, which means if it doesn’t have papers already it never will. “Daimyo registered” means less than nothing without provenance and/or papers. Would need much better pictures to speak to the blade itself, but honestly in this case they’re not necessary. Nothing evil going on here, just caveat emptor. Quote
ChrisW Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 It is as Michael says. If it doesn't have papers, it never will. Which implies there is some sort of underlying problem with the blade. Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 I am not too well versed in the pricing of top quality items as they are highly specialized field but I would believe that genuine signed tachi by Osafune Nagamitsu might start around 70,000$'s? I don't think I have seen one listed under that. Of course the high quality Nagamitsu are in totally different ballpark. Quote
Jean Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 I think Darcy had one for sale years ago for 50 k$. Quote
