Jeff from Las Vegas Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Hello. Not a sword guy. Family legend is that this was given to my grandmother as a gift from a serviceman she was dating who had served in the south pacific before or during WWII. We thought it was lost to the ages, as most family members thought it was junk. It looks like pictures I see for a Kyū guntō. But I don't see any kind of serial number. Quote
Droocoo Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Appears to me to be a genuine Type 19. Any more photos of the handguard? Quote
ribendao Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Yep, looks like a type 19 dress sword with mon (family crest) on the handle back strap. Appears to be authentic. Looks like the mon is that of the Matsuura clan. Someone might correct me on that. Quote
Jeff from Las Vegas Posted April 6, 2021 Author Report Posted April 6, 2021 Here you go. I assume this is the hand-guard. 2 Quote
