Shugyosha Posted March 27, 2021 Report Posted March 27, 2021 Hi Clst, Welcome to NMB. Something to get you going: This is a katana with the signature 大和守藤原忠行 - Yamato kami Fujiwara Tadayuki. On the other side of the paper it says he is the 2nd generation (二代) signing with this name. On the other side of the tang are the characters 豊後国高田住 Bungo Takada ju (residing at Takada in the province of Bungo) and a date - 元禄十二年八月吉日 - Genroku ju ni nen hachi gatsu kichi jitsu - a lucky day in August in the 12th year of Genroku (1699 - Genroku began in 1688). If you are able to give us a first name that would be great - we use proper names on here rather than handles to keep things friendly. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted March 27, 2021 Report Posted March 27, 2021 Too much to answer in one post. All your papers are on their side which adds difficulty to reading. The bottom white sheet is a copy of a registration card for a Wakizashi with a different name, so it is unconnected. The yellow papers are from an organization called the Jūhō Tōken Kenkyū Kai. Not really possible to say if they are ‘right’ without seeing the blade! 😊 PS Thanks John, just seen your post. 1 Quote
Shugyosha Posted March 27, 2021 Report Posted March 27, 2021 I didn't look at the registration card but, as Piers says, it is for a different blade than the yellow papers. That might set alarm bells ringing particularly if the sword is still in Japan so you should get pictures of the actual sword you are looking to buy and make sure the yellow authentication paper matches the picture of the tang in that paper. Shugyosha Posted March 27, 2021 Report Posted March 27, 2021 Hi Stephane, The yellow authentication papers are for this blade so don’t worry about the white ones not matching. 1 Quote

Shugyosha Posted March 27, 2021 Report Posted March 27, 2021 If the is a negative comment, this item is already in France so the torokusho (or paper copy) isn’t needed. https://www.naturabuy.fr/Nihonto-japonais-longue-epee-katana-signe-Tadayuki-avec-certificat-item-7487396.html Quote
