Hi Clst,

Welcome to NMB. Something to get you going:

This is a katana with the signature 和守原忠行 - Yamato kami Fujiwara Tadayuki. On the other side of the paper it says he is the 2nd generation (二代) signing with this name.

On the other side of the tang are the characters 豊後国田住 Bungo Takada ju (residing at Takada in the province of Bungo) and a date - 元禄二年八月日 - Genroku ju ni nen hachi gatsu kichi jitsu - a lucky day in August in the 12th year of Genroku (1699 - Genroku began in 1688).

If you are able to give us a first name that would be great - we use proper names on here rather than handles to keep things friendly.:)

Too much to answer in one post. All your papers are on their side which adds difficulty to reading.

The bottom white sheet is a copy of a registration card for a Wakizashi with a different name, so it is unconnected.

The yellow papers are from an organization called the Jūhō Tōken Kenkyū Kai.

Not really possible to say if they are ‘right’ without seeing the blade! 😊

PS Thanks John, just seen your post.

I didn't look at the registration card but, as Piers says, it is for a different blade than the yellow papers. That might set alarm bells ringing particularly if the sword is still in Japan so you should get pictures of the actual sword you are looking to buy and make sure the yellow authentication paper matches the picture of the tang in that paper.
