shakudo Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 Hi All, Anyone have recent experience with Jp surface mail( sea freight) tracking. I'm 7 weeks in waiting and am unable to track after it left Japan- anyone know how I can get any more information? I tracked a motor bike from USA and was able to follow complete journey- but here nothing after despatch? Only sent surface as DHL wouldn't send- only koshirae by the way! Would appreciate any views or contacts if there is one- apart from phone- my Japanese is very poor!! Regards Michael Quote
Brano Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 I use Sea freight from Japan for packages of books Without the possibility of tracking the shipment The package usually arrives in Europe 10-12 weeks after leaving Japan 1 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 I am not sure how long it usually takes to Australia. The top end of estimate to Finland is usually c. 90 days. My last batch of books (shipped in November) by surface mail took pretty much 90 days to arrive, almost spot on 3 months. Quote
shakudo Posted March 15, 2021 Author Report Posted March 15, 2021 Hi Brano and Kids I, many thanks for your comments. Seems I still have quite a while to wait! But must admit I'm surprised that the tracking does not continue after it leaves Japan? I've been on JP website tried to find a contact email but nothing only the phone number of last point of despatch! - what would be thechances of reaching an English speaking worker! Thanks again for your input and I'll keep fingers crossed! Cheers Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Interested to hear your experience, have had Koshirae stuck for nearly a year. Partly my fault for being cheap and hoping normal service would resume, DHL will not be cheap. Quote
DoTanuki yokai Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 You can try this https://www.google.de/amp/s/www.aftership.com/amp/ it shows me only little more information then the Japanese tracking but I think (hope) it will show me when the ship arrives. Waiting actually 58days for some tamahagane Quote
lonely panet Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 DHL is no better from my point of view. iv had some tassels sitting at the airport since monday, DHL say it will take to the 26th of this month to receive them. its only a 1.5 hr drive ??? wtf Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 Every parcel from DHL has arrived within a few days after leaving Japan, they have been superb. Quote
sabiji Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 I am waiting for a sea freight which left Japan on January 30. And I think it will take a while. When my daughter was in Japan for 1 year, she sent heavy packages by ship twice. They usually took 3 months to reach Germany. It was not possible to track the shipment. That being said, I recently waited two and a half months for a small package by air from the US. Despite tracking - hadn't been much use - you could only wonder why it was criss-crossing the USA and lying around at airports for ages before it went across the ocean. 1 Quote
shakudo Posted March 17, 2021 Author Report Posted March 17, 2021 Many thanks for your thoughts and experiences! DHL- well - jauce over packed my purchases - 65000 postage! But wait theres more- DHL refused due to length of parcel( you would think this auction company would be on top of that! Really!) I advised to collapse parcel/ repack to their specs- but wait theres more- DHL viewed my Edo daisho koshirae as replica swords- tsunagi- what the ____. Refused parcel completely!!! Advised jauce to send by surface- left on 28/1/21 and as most have said tracking is a joke! Certainly makes one wonder if its really worth it - but it's under my skin so " suck it up princess!" Getting hard! Cheers Quote
shakudo Posted March 25, 2021 Author Report Posted March 25, 2021 Hi all, just an update- tracking shows the parcels have arrived in Sydney on 23/3 so only 54 days from Japan using surface/ sea mail. Thanks to all. Quote
shakudo Posted March 30, 2021 Author Report Posted March 30, 2021 They arrived on the 29th! Great packaging - even tsuba bubble wrapped to outside of box! Cheers Quote
