JH Lee Posted March 5, 2021 Report Posted March 5, 2021 I don't understand the obsession with cutting paper. It's like watching someone gut a Lamborghini because he thinks it should work like a tractor. Quote
Fuuten Posted March 5, 2021 Report Posted March 5, 2021 It seems the replies are encouraging him to continue. Gaibu-sha to the rescue? (fully unsure of the correct usage but i was looking for a multiple of gaijin^). Quote
Katsujinken Posted March 5, 2021 Report Posted March 5, 2021 Most people (even iaidoka) do not understand what “sharp” means in the context of a Japanese sword. It’s totally different than what one needs to cleanly slice paper. That’s not what the blade was made to do! The katana especially requires a proper profile but that marriage of form and function must align with body mechanics and, dare I say, the right state of mind. Sigh. 1 Quote

AntiquarianCat Posted March 6, 2021 Report Posted March 6, 2021 It’s very strange that he would damage something he paid so much money to get. I guess he’s akin to American collectors who “polish” rare coins with steel wool because they think it looks better with surface damage instead of tarnish. 1 Quote
