Hi all,

I am a newcomer to Japanese swords and not very knowledgeable. I have recently came across this sword.

At first sight, it looks like a type 94 although I can be completely wrong. But the things that puzzle me the most are the number in the habaki and what looks like a chinese seal in the nakago. I have tried to look it up but to no avail.

Not sure even if it is the true thing or a fake. Any help?

I can include more photos if requested.

Thanks in advance.

They're getting the kissaki right finally, sadly.

The Type 94s are almost always pretty high quaility, yet this one has a poorly made habaki (with hallmark Chinese numbering), painted kabutogane, poor quality seppa and fit, and poor detail on the fuchi.  I've seen a couple recently with this Tosho script stamp, but not aware of anyone using such a stamp in the Japanese sword making world (other that one shop making early Type 19s)

Hello,

Agree...100% fake.....Not the worst out there and with a bit of fine tuning would be ok for someone who cannot afford the genuine item...

Regards,

               Paul..
