Hi,

About the signature, i think you must not dream, the nakago is far from looking like those of Muramasa (shodai, nidai, sandai).

You are right of course, but at my age all I can do is hope and dream

All the wishing aside, this is my favorite blade, however, I only own 3.

Dan, Your tanto looks delightful - congatulations. I am pleased to see that you have not had the gimei removed. It is part of the blade's history and should be preserved.

Thank you for the reply. Is it possible to determine with any certainty who the maker might have been? Can a blade with a gimei be submitted to shinsa? Thanks

Submitted, yes, but it will fail because of it. The NBTHK will just fail it, the NTHK will pink-slip it, but they may give you an indication about its maker. In any case not worth the money.

Thanks. My health willing, I will attend the Chicago show this spring. Do you think it is possible to have experts make an educated guess as to the maker?

Thanks again.
