SteveM Posted February 17, 2021 Report Posted February 17, 2021 成、城、誠、etc. It should be a location name, but neither 重成 nor 重城 ring any bells. I took a shallow dive to search for any togishi named Ichikawa, hoping that it would point me toward the location, but came up empty. 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 18, 2021 Report Posted February 18, 2021 Went through much the same process as Steve above, Ray. My wife took one look and said, 知らん and walked off. (Are you sure that first Kanji is 重 Shige?) There seems to be a knife-sharpening industry today in Ichikawa. Quote
Ray Singer Posted February 18, 2021 Author Report Posted February 18, 2021 Thank you both for looking into it further. I did think the first kanji is Shige, but got to a dead end as far as placenames which would fit. If I saw the first two kanji by themselves I would assume a name of Shigenari as was suggested above, but given that this is indication a location it is perplexing. Take care, Ray Quote
