TomMcRei Posted February 13, 2021 Report Posted February 13, 2021 I am looking for information about age and origin of these two tsubas. Both are made of iron, first one is 75mm x 75mm and 3mm thickness and second one is 84mm x 79mm and 4mm thickness. Second one: Quote
Geraint Posted February 13, 2021 Report Posted February 13, 2021 Dear Tony. Have a look around katchushi for the first, possibly a later version. The second I can't help you with but I do like it. If you've not found it this will give you a few hours of pleasure, http://www.shibuiswords.com/tsuba.htm All the best. Quote
Japan2112 Posted February 14, 2021 Report Posted February 14, 2021 First one looks Early Edo Katchushi. Maybe earlier. It is thin and the plate looks older. As for the second, late Edo, maybe Bushu? (A big basket). Plate looks young and carving sharp. A little bone and oil can clean up the active rust on that one. Quote

ROKUJURO Posted February 20, 2021 Report Posted February 20, 2021 Tony, the second one of your TSUBA (no plural form) was certainly nice when it was made, but the serious corrosion is a bad flaw for an experienced collector. Quote
