Itomagoi Posted February 6, 2021 Report Posted February 6, 2021 Hello all, I am getting better at reading kanji, but often I still need help. This is a gendaito with a star stamp in rinji seishiki koshirae. X? X? Masa Kuni Saku (May 1944) Thanks in advance for the help with the complete translation. 2 Quote
Itomagoi Posted February 6, 2021 Author Report Posted February 6, 2021 Thank you for the quick help. I will now try to find out which masakuni it is. I am grateful for any tip. :-) Quote
Volker62 Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 Hi Peter after my research, sure one of the Okishiba line of Osaka group... Some of them were working for Prince Higashikuni. Very fine blades. Best, Volker Quote
Itomagoi Posted February 15, 2021 Author Report Posted February 15, 2021 Thank you very much, Volker. That is very interesting. Quote
vajo Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 Can we see the whole Sword Peter and the Koshirae. Its a Type3 rinji seishiki i think. Quote
Kiipu Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 Some of these Type 100s have marking on the nakago mune near the habaki. Does this one have any markings in that location? Quote
Itomagoi Posted February 15, 2021 Author Report Posted February 15, 2021 I wish I could give you more pictures and information. But this gendaito unfortunately does not belong to me :-) 1 Quote

vajo Posted February 16, 2021 Report Posted February 16, 2021 Show it Peter! I'm allways interested and happy to see what german collectors and friends have secured and preserve it. Quote
Volker62 Posted February 17, 2021 Report Posted February 17, 2021 For the serious collector from Gendai-to, there are not too many of them in Germany, it is indeed an enrichment…. keep it safe 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted February 17, 2021 Author Report Posted February 17, 2021 Please be patient. Soon I can show it :-) Quote
Volker62 Posted March 11, 2021 Report Posted March 11, 2021 well after doing research, the meaning for Tojin, is sword deity! historic signature , on a beautiful blade!! Regards Volker Quote
SteveM Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 In this case, Tōshin (東神) is a part of a longer name 日本刀東神鍛錬所 Japanese Sword Tōshin Forge. "Eastern Deity" is the direct, literal translation of the two characters that comprise the word tōshin, but in this case I think its just a name, and it alludes to the smith being affiliated with that particular forge. 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted March 12, 2021 Author Report Posted March 12, 2021 I can add these photos to the sword. Very nice work. 2 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted March 30, 2021 Author Report Posted March 30, 2021 I still got these photos. A dreamlike sword. I am pretty sure that Okishiba Masakuni 沖芝 正國 made it. Do any of you maybe have more information about him or information about the Japanese Sword Tōshin Forge 日本刀東神鍛錬所? Quote
Volker62 Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 Hi Peter thanks a lot! the pictures do not realy reflect the real beauty of this blade, superb!!! Quote
Volker62 Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 it clearly shows that this is going towards Soshu..... Quote
