2devnul Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hi Steve @spro Congratulations and a big respect for giving this sword second life. This forum topic is a great example of what can be done to a blade which some (including me) would say was beyond restoration. Nicely done and a big shout to the polisher for doing awesome job! Now you have both, sentimental and material value in this sword. Since you mentioned that you want to display the sword, then have you considered Koshirae for it? It's personal but I think Koshirae adds a lot to the sword. Therefore, all my swords which are on display have Koshirae. Again, some will disagree with keeping a sword like that. Some will say put Koshirae on display but keep the blade in Shirasaya. But all that depends on the owner. I agree that Koshirae is an additional cost. Money that you won't probably get back if you want to sell the sword. However, it's worth considering if you want to keep it. Just an idea. Quote

I'm still sourcing a shirasaya, but I ordered this in black to display. I'm having a hard time finding a box to encase the display. I may end up making one out of acrylic and wood. I still have the original tsuka, tsuba, and saya, so I'll display those alongside. They're in really rough shape, but have great historical value. Quote
