Hi all,

have a look here:

http://www.nihontokanjipages.com/forum/

"This forum is going to close. Basically, I have had enough. It is all too hard. Thank you everyone, for participating and reading. I hope you got SOME enjoyment out of it. Also note, I have also closed the Tosogu.com blog, and the Nihonto kanji pages. These will not return to the net. Kind regards. Richard Turner."

The JSSUS has spoken to Rich about hosting the Nihont Kanji pages. He has graciously given us permission to put them up on our web-site http://www.jssus.org Work is progressing on accomplishing that now. The information will be available to everyone on the net. We, of course, encourage membership in the JSSUS. Your membership fees helps to support translation work. Our newsletter provides information and updates on events in the sword world. Please join and keep the largest sword organization outside of Japan strong and productive. Many members of this Newsgroup are members of the JSSUS. Some have made significant contributions to the Newsletter. The cost of membership is $40 USD for residents of USA, $45 for Canadians and $60 for the rest of the world. Click on the join button on the web-site. You can either mail in a cheque or pay with Paypal. Some days Paypal acts up. If that is the case please pay to treasurer@jssus.org and send me a note with your mailing information. I will see that you get your Newsletters.

Hi all, yes, sorry about the lack of communication. I have been on holidays for a week as well as busy with other things.

Firstly, worry not Roland. I did take the Nihonto Kanji Pages down, but Darcy has them in his hot little hands as we speak and I have donated them to the JSSUS so they will appear on their site soon (I think/hope) nb. ok, just saw Barry's message and it's full steam ahead by the looks.

I have closed tosogu.com (forum). I got tired of trying to placate people who seemed hell bent on causing trouble instead of trying to work towards a greater learning within a community, who, instead of using their energies to grow things seemed to want to tear them down. I am too old to be dealing with fools, I just want to study and learn. I decided to put my energies into other things.

I also closed the blog as it was not having that many hits any more, the forum sort off took over.

So there you have it, the kanji pages will be up, soon I hope. Check with Barry Hennick for more info or if you need something specific from the pages, just ask.

Cheers all

Rich -

Sorry to see your sites go; you've done a fine job over the years,

first taking over for me with the message board and building a one

of the finest Nihonto sites on the net.

Best of luck and good wishes for the future.

Fare well Rich, I know that managing a forum is a drag. Some people tend to be negative (euphemism), that is why I try to give my support when I can to Administrators/Moderators.

I hope you will be participating from time to time to the tosogu section and enlighten us with your knowledge

Rich,

All I can say is I understand completely, and am really sorry it came to that. I am very glad the NKP will live on, as you know you have created one of the most useful resources on the net there. Hope you won't go into hiding too much. You still have lots of info and discussion to offer this art. It takes either incredibly strong will, or serious stupidity to run one of these forums. I think I fall into the latter category  :glee:

All the best

I'm not going to turn this into a group hug, but, all who do this type of service with no personal gain, except, the joy it can engender, deserve some recognition of their time and effort. This thread contains three of the best. It saddens me somewhat when things come to an end, again, remembering how everything is impermanent and change a basic law. Thank you, to these people. John

Hi Richard,

thanks for your quick response! And honestly: You did make a really great job especially for us Nihonto newbies in the last years. Therefore we all are indebted to you!

Have a good time.

@ Barry: I send you a PM and paypal'd the fee for a foreign JSSUS membership...

Just to say a sincere thanks to everyone who works so hard to give us forums like these to discuss and learn. You efforts are always most welcome and appreciated.

Shame on those who abuse it and spoil it for the rest. I think you know who you are.....

Darcy,

Thanks. The link is already a permanent link at the very top of the forum, along with a few other important links that are handy. Thanks for your help in coding it for the JSSUS.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
