Ontario_Archaeology Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 Hello, I have recently added this interesting piece to my collection, it looks like a presentation piece, or it could just be something put together, I am not 100% sure. It does appear to be missing a seppa, but the interesting mons all over the kai gunto pieces throughout peaked my curiosity. Quote
Ontario_Archaeology Posted November 24, 2020 Author Report Posted November 24, 2020 The last picture wouldn't fit in the first message . . . Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 Would be quite unique if original but I have seen a few Gunto converted into Itomaki Tachi post war. This is far better executed than most so it could very well be original. 2 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 {edited post after seeing Matt had already mentioned the mon} Matt, Thought I'd compare yours to some others I have filed and it seems to have similarities in wrap and mon placement, so I'd vote original. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 This one was a 25 yr employee presentation. 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 This Mantetsu presentation is a little more elaborate. I just realized that yours is the first Navy presentation sword I've ever seen. VERY COOL! 1 Quote
