Mb1114 Posted November 22, 2020 Report Posted November 22, 2020 Trying to figure out where the sword originated. Quote
Geraint Posted November 22, 2020 Report Posted November 22, 2020 Dear Matt. From what we can see so far this appears to be a handachi mounted sword that has been kitted out to serve during WWII. In other words it is a Japanese sword, originally mounted as a civilian sword but later it has had a combat cover and a hanger added to make it serviceable in the war. Do you know how to remove the hilt? If not then pleaser ask and we can tell you. We need to see the blade without its mounts to be able to tell you much more. All the best. 1 1 Quote

Grey Doffin Posted November 22, 2020 Report Posted November 22, 2020 Hi Matt, Here is a care and handling brochure that will tell you how to remove and replace the handle. Please read it through before you attempt anything. http://nbthk-ab.org/cleaning-maintenance.php Cheers, Grey 1 Quote
