I considered Kiyo and then decided against it..but a look at Shosankenshu shows the mei as written this way. Well done John. H.03393.0 Haynes and Shosankenshu have him with this kao. Only info is he is dated around 1800's and seen on a f/k set. Toso Kinko Jiten page 406.

Thanks a lot   , a friend of mine spotted it on Haynes and I am waiting for his written information (which are the same you gave me, BTW)

A donkey/stupid question, is he related to any known school?? The best for me to learn is to spot a tsuba I like, have the school , spounge all the data about it , pound it over with a lot of examples so I can get a view of the school main characteristics.

Secret Agent Man,

the tsuba has been discussed a few times on the board ( including the correct reading of the mei ) , I can't locate them all but here's an entry/quote from Ford........

" The subject is" The eight horses of Bokuo" and refers to an historic expedition against the tribes of Southern China by the 5th Emperor of the 5th Chow Dynasty. ............ Ford

after the " crash " of the server, Nobody san's rendition of the first kanji became " unreadable ".......

Yep...they screwed up the server move and the character coding, which converted most kanji into unreadable characters.

As we find these older posts during our regular browsing, I would appreciate it is people could edit their own posts if still allowed, and correct the kanji. If editing isn't possible, then just pm me the link to the post, and the kanji to insert, and I'll correct it. This will be a long term project, so let's do them as we come across them, and especially the posts that rely on the kanji.

Thanks,

Brian
